Historical Fact #6 - Boonesville Memorial Plaque

N 42.31625        W 071.99401

Elevation: 756'

These three stones, which were found on Treasure Valley property, were fitted with brass plaques featuring the Scout Oath, Scout Law, and old Cub Scout Promise. The Council installed these stones and plaques in 1980 or 1981 behind the three flagpoles on Boonesville Plains

Though not generally known, these stones and plaques are in memory of the two Scouts (one camper and one staff member) who died in the tornado of August 10, 1979. We are to understand that one family did not wish to have their son’s name on a plaque, so it was decided not to use either scout’s name. All who look upon these plaques should remember that life is precious and that we should value every minute of it.
